This timeless pattern of overlapping circles is one of the oldest ornaments in human history. Variations of it can be found in medieval church stonework, Romanesque carvings, rose windows, and Moroccan ornamentation. Even older versions appear in Egyptian reliefs, Celtic stone symbols, Islamic geometric art, mythical temple designs, and in ancient cultures that worked with sacred geometry and cosmic symbolism.
In many spiritual traditions, the Mandorla is seen as a symbol of intuition, subtle perception, and a gateway into higher realms of consciousness. It is deeply rooted in mythical places such as Avalon and the Chalice Well, where it represents connection, healing, and transformation.
During the 1960s, this joyful and simple pattern experienced a revival when geometric circles and endless grids became iconic elements of modern design.
At the heart of this pattern lies the Vesica Piscis – the sacred intersection of two circles. It forms the almond-shaped Mandorla, symbolizing creation, harmony, creativity, and the origin of life itself. The Vesica Piscis is the first geometric form from which the Flower of Life emerges. Every cell division begins with this principle: from one and two arises something third – something new.
For thousands of years, the Mandorla has been regarded as a feminine creation symbol, reminiscent of the vulva – the portal through which all life enters the world. It also represents the meeting of inner and outer worlds, visible for example in the shapes of the eye and the mouth. In Christian symbolism, it appears as the radiant aura surrounding Christ; in Buddhism, Buddha is often depicted with a Mandorla halo, expressing his transition into a higher state of being.
The meaning of the endless pattern
The overlapping circles create a subtle diamond shape at the center, representing balance, stability, and clarity. The diamond has long been a protective symbol associated with the threshold, the center, and the equilibrium between worlds.
The circles themselves symbolize protection, wholeness, and unity. Their repetition forms an energetically calm, joyful, and harmonious field. This window film is therefore ideal for spaces that are meant to radiate peace, focus, and inspiration.
Through its continuous structure, the pattern becomes an infinite, almost hypnotic grid that feels like an energetic matrix. The privacy film creates a geometric field that conveys clarity, happiness, joy, structure, and at the same time a sense of spaciousness and lightness.
Design & Individuality
Depending on personal taste or the desired effect, individual elements can be deliberately removed from the top, bottom, or sides, as shown in the first three images.
This not only changes the visual appearance but also the optical and energetic effect of the circular pattern:
Sometimes it appears more playful and soft, at other times more clean and calming. In this way, the Mandorla pattern can be individually adapted to the space, the light, and personal preferences.
Information about the design
The example photos show the gold-colored film.
Our self-adhesive window film is contour-cut. This means the design is cut out of the film itself. Wherever the motif is cut out in the negative, the glass surface remains visible.
Depending on the size of your window, you can trim the film either before or after installation so it fits your window perfectly. Once the motif is mounted, carefully run a sharp knife (such as a cutter or utility knife) along the edge and remove the excess film. A detailed installation guide is included with your order.
If you have special requests — for example, a larger distance between the motif and the film’s edge, or a wider/taller film — you can let us know in the text field. We will get back to you!
Information about the film
This matte special PVC film in silver-grey and gold creates a beautiful frost or ice-crystal effect on glass surfaces. The adhesive film has a reduced surface gloss and is ideal for decorating glass, glass doors, windows, shop windows, and mirrors. It is self-adhesive, light-transmitting, UV-resistant, and washable. The window film can be used both as decoration and as privacy protection while still letting light through.
Depending on the motif, you can apply the film using the wet or dry method. For larger continuous areas, we recommend wet application, ideally at temperatures above 18°C.
Information about the colour
The colour representation in the product images serves only as a non-binding orientation. Gold and silver are not colours in the strict sense; we perceive them through reflections and light gradients. This makes it difficult to show the tones accurately in digital form. The film is also slightly transparent, so the gold and silver tones will look different depending on the lighting conditions. We therefore recommend testing the colours in real life using our sample strips before purchasing.
