Woodland Strawberry Poster – Sacred Geometry & Herbal Symbolism

The woodland strawberry (Fragaria vesca) belongs to the rose family and grows in light forests and along sunny slopes across Europe, Asia, and North America. Its young, soft leaves can be added to salads or warm vegetable dishes. The slightly older leaves are traditionally used to make herbal teas (April–July), as well as the blossoms and dried fruits.

Wild strawberries are much smaller than commercial varieties but have a far more intense and aromatic flavor. They can be used to make jams, jellies and juice, and are known for their richness in vitamins C, E, K, B-complex, as well as minerals like iron, manganese, potassium, calcium, zinc and magnesium, along with plant-based compounds such as antioxidants, flavonoids and organic acids.

In herbal tradition, the leaves – slightly sour and green-tea-like in taste – are valued for their tannins (ellagitannins), flavonoids, essential oils and salicylic acid. Herbal teas made from them are believed to support inner cleansing and balance. (Please avoid use if you have allergies!)

In Norse tradition, the strawberry was a plant associated with the goddess Freya, standing for fertility and love. In later centuries, the strawberry took on new meanings – seen as both tempting and sensual, it was eventually reinterpreted and symbolically assigned to Mary in Christian iconography.

The flower and calyx of the strawberry form a pentagram shape, a powerful symbol of harmony, awakening, abundance and beauty. The planet Venus, associated with love and creativity, moves in the form of a pentagram in the sky.
This shape also reflects the golden ratio, phi, Fibonacci numbers, and the golden spiral – patterns found in plants, crystals, shells, the human body, architecture, art, and music.

Even Disney once featured this natural geometry: in 1957, Donald Duck starred in an educational short film exploring the magic of the five-pointed star and the golden ratio. You can watch it below.

For many nature-connected women and plant-wise people – once dismissed as „witches“ – the pentagram is a symbol of protection, representing the five elements: earth, water, fire, air, and spirit.

Modern research on biophilia shows that natural green visuals – such as this wall art – may help activate the rest and regeneration system, lower blood pressure, support creativity, and reduce stress.

This mystical plant-inspired wall artwork brings a sense of healing, calm, energy, harmony and natural flow into your space. A meaningful gift for herbalists, therapists, natural health practitioners and all who walk the green path.

Available as poster, canvas or aluminum print.
