Magical Pulsatilla Wall Art
The beautiful spring flower known in German as Kuhschelle and in homeopathy as Pulsatilla is internationally called the Pasque Flower (Pulsatilla pratensis), a member of the buttercup family (Ranunculaceae). For those familiar with homeopathy, Pulsatilla is one of the most cherished remedies for women’s health, supporting fertility, progesterone balance, PMS, luteal phase weakness, irregular cycles, cystitis, mastitis, menopause symptoms, and even easing childbirth. It is also used for rheumatic pain, digestive complaints, venous weakness, children’s ailments, and emotional imbalance.
Historically, the Pasque Flower was revered by Hippocrates, the Celts, and Germanic tribes as a sacred women’s herb, known as Mother Flower, Motherwort, or Bear Flower. It was used as an emmenagogue, for cleansing the womb, stimulating menstruation, relieving cramps, lifting the spirit, and for its strong antimicrobial effects.
Because the fresh plant contains protoanemonin, it is toxic and irritant — which is why today it is primarily used in homeopathic form.
The plant’s silvery-white hairs protect it from cold and evaporation. In the language of signatures, they connect Pulsatilla with the Moon, making it a remedy for people who are chilly, sensitive, emotional, and in need of gentle comfort. Its soft, silky appearance naturally awakens the desire to stroke it — or, as in my experience, to meditate in its protective presence.
Sacred Geometry – Feminine Energy & the Vesica Piscis
Pulsatilla is a deeply feminine healing plant, both in appearance and energetic essence.
In sacred geometry, the circle and Vesica Piscis (Mandorla) represent the divine feminine. All cell division begins with a circle that duplicates itself — their overlap forms the Vesica Piscis.
This shape appears in Pulsatilla’s petals, arranged like a natural mandala.
In the human body, the Mandorla shape exists wherever inner and outer worlds meet: in the eyes, ears, mouth, and most notably, the vulva. Pulsatilla supports the organs associated with this sacred portal of life. As globules it is traditionally used for eye and ear inflammation and dental pain.
Looking into the flower, you can see three petals on top and three below. Connecting their tips creates a hexagram, a symbol of unity between opposites — just like circles, it offers energetic protection. The circle signifies wholeness and completeness.
