Thistles contain bitter compounds, flavonoids (quercetin & apigenin glycosides), tannins, and (un)saturated fatty acids. In folk medicine, they were used for digestion, gallbladder disorders, emotional heart conditions, coughs, pain, cramps, cancer, and externally for ulcers and rashes. In anthroposophic medicine, they are used for heart rhythm disturbances, circulatory problems, and sleep disorders. Studies suggest some anti-tumor effects, though further research is limited.
The thistle family also includes the artichoke and milk thistle, both known for their healing properties for the liver and gallbladder. Thistles are considered protective plants. In the doctrine of signatures, plants with thorns or spines were believed to have protective, immune-strengthening, heart-strengthening, energizing, detoxifying, and willpower-enhancing properties, associated with the planet Mars. Just as the god of war Mars wields a sharp sword, thorny plants protect themselves physically instead of relying on poison. Their sympathetic magic is said to transfer to humans, strengthening our own defenses.
Composite flowers (Asteraceae) show radial symmetry and torus shapes (Seed of Life duplicated and rotated 90°), forms found throughout the universe. The magnetic field of our heart and the protective magnetic field of the Earth share this structure. Some theories suggest the universe itself is torus-shaped (“donut model”). Magical spirals in thistles create stunning blooms while optimizing sunlight absorption.
Fibonacci numbers are often found in the spirals of flower petals, as in this case with the magical number 21. The more our energy field aligns with Sacred Geometry, the better life energy can flow and consciousness can expand. Perhaps medicinal plants like thistles can assist in this process.
This magical natural poster brings harmony and calmness into your space. Many flowers grow according to the golden spiral, Fibonacci sequence, and Golden Ratio. Their beauty resonates with us because we are built on the same patterns, from bone structures to DNA. Wildflowers also exemplify fractal geometry—nature constantly creates self-replicating patterns. This pastel boho poster reminds us that nothing in the universe is purely random. Everything follows a magical blueprint, allowing infinite individuality. This wall art adds beauty, peace, and relaxation to your home. Available as a poster, canvas, or Alu-Dibond print, it makes a perfect gift for nature enthusiasts, herbalists, phytotherapists, and herb lovers.
